The sustainable production of alternative commodities is one of the world’s biggest challenges. Within our new publication, “Cultivation conditions affect the monosaccharide composition in Ulva fenestrata“, we show that variations in cultivation conditions affect the monosaccharaide composition in the northern hemisphere sea lettuce, Ulva fenestrata.

Hence, it is not only the extraction and refining processes of valuable compounds that significantly affect the economic value of the seaweed biomass. We show that cultivation conditions increase the economic potential of seaweed biomass by being able to maximize respective compounds of interest.
